Mary Kate McDevitt is an Associate at Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP. She is a member in the Qui Tam & False Claims Act Group.
Ms. McDevitt works on all aspects of False Claims Act and Anti-Kickback representation from the initial investigation to litigation. She also represents defendants in civil and criminal enforcement actions brought by government agencies.
Ms. McDevitt has been involved in the recovery of over $123.5 million for state and federal taxpayers and has litigated numerous high profile Qui Tam cases including:
- United States ex rel. Mason, Folstad, and MEMA v. HMA, et. al. resulting in a $74.5 million recovery
- United States ex rel. Mason, Folstad, and MEMA v. EMCARE, et. al. resulting in a $30 million recovery
- United States ex rel. Lutz et al. v. Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings resulting in a $19 million recovery
Ms. McDevitt currently serves as the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Young Lawyer’s Division liaison to the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Committee.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. McDevitt was a Certified Legal Intern at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania working in both the civil and criminal divisions. While there, she assisted with qui tam matters and provided research on various federal statutes, including the False Claims Act, FOIA, and civil and criminal forfeiture. She also spent time as a summer associate at a Philadelphia-based litigation firm and gained significant experience as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Gary Gilman in the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas.
Ms. McDevitt earned her J.D. with a Health Law concentration with honors from Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law as a merit-based scholarship recipient. Prior to law school, she attended Drexel University College of Nursing and Health Professions where she earned her B.S. in Health Science, with a minor in Health Services Administration.
